And I'm Home

Victoria was definitely my sort of city - absolutely lovely, highly walkable. I took the bus and ferry back to Vancouver, where I waited in line for 5 1/2 hours to get to hold Olympic medals. It was, amazingly enough, cool enough to be worth the wait.

The train ride to Jasper was scenic enough, though the dome car needs windshield wipers to enable better photographs. There was no dogsledding available, which shouldn't be surprising since I am inevitably foiled in my attempts to go dogsledding in Canada. I did go and walk on the ice on the bottom of a frozen river, which was interesting, though I'd have liked it better if I had a hiking staff with me. The West Edmonton Mall was impressive in some ways, though the shops themselves are so-so. I also had issues with the hotel there, which screwed up pretty much every administrative thing it was possible to.

Time for dinner and catching up a bit at home.
